An online article issued by Impetus Europe Consulting Group Limited stated that, Malta Enterprise have launched the Quality+ Scheme which encourages small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) in meliorating their products, services and processes and in acquiring quality marks and/or certifications that demonstrate these improvements.
The eligible expenses under the Quality+ Scheme, include costs incurred during the process of achieving a recognised quality certification related to processes, products or services; achieving recognised environmental certification/s; the implementation of an operations manual and the acquisition of a franchise licence; the acquisition of a licence required for participation in a value chain; and also the acquisition of a quality mark. Eligible expenses under this Scheme cover up to a maximum of €20,000.
Companies that obtain certifications or quality marks namely the ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, Halal Certification & MS1500:2004, Hazard Analysis Critical and Control Point (HACCP), CE Mark and BSI Kitemark; amongst others would also be eligible for assistance.
Malta Enterprise may also approve deductions from eligible taxable income equivalent to 150% of the eligible expenditure incurred for achieving the necessary improvement (over any normal statuary tax deductions).
